5 Type of Files You Can Start Selling

in Knowledgebase on May 16, 2020

As a designer, what we do is create a different type of files regularly. After finishing the projects, sometimes we save the files as our final version. Otherwise, we forget about the draft, and later we delete all of them to cleanse our hard drives. But you know what? You can start making some passive income by selling those apparently unnecessary files. Your projects don’t need them doesn’t mean there’s no demand for them.

I’m going to talk about 5 file types you can sell on the market and earn some bucks while you’re not working.

Templates

Template

Templates are designers’ go-go things as they work with them all the time. Whenever I create a design, sometimes I reuse it for other projects. Every designer does that, I guess. It’s time-saving, and you don’t have to overthink while creating a new design from scratch. If you think one of your templates can help others, display it in your shop. There are people who need them.

Vectors

Vector

So you know how vectors are. Most of us work in Illustrator and create different kinds of vectors, such as shapes or patterns. Moreover, in many cases, I can’t use them finally in my work. Fortunately, these unused drafts may get paid by others because these are simple solutions for them. You don’t have to put a lot of thought into it. Whatever it earns, fine. Instead of filling up spaces on your hard drive, if they can make a few bucks, why don’t you show it to others? www.freepik.com

Mockups

Yes, the mockup is an obvious thing, I guess. Again, their demand is always up! A beautiful mockup can make some sales. That’s why every creator wants them for their graphic presentation. Many designers seem unhappy with what they can buy from the market. Consequently, they create their own, which is another door for you to earn some extra. It’s time to bring your mockups in front of the world with some small touches if needed. www.creativemarket.com

Photos

Photography is my hobby, and whenever I get time, I take my camera and capture random things. I apply these photos in my designs, sometimes. If you’re like me, then probably you have a store of photos that you don’t know what to do except posting on social media. Hear out from me: sell them. No matter how low the price would be, you can make some. https://submit.shutterstock.com/

Illustrations

Illustrations

I’ve already discussed vector files. Illustrations are similar things only with some extra weights. While vectors might be simple elements, illustrations mean a lot because of their structure and usability in big places. An illustration can be a combination of multiple vectors. While you can sell the single pieces, you can also sell them as a complete work. You can make an illustration pack or a pattern using your leftovers. www.freepik.com
